Finishing and quality control complete the transformation of leather

Finishing develops the leather’s surface appearance and adjusts its performance in use. Quality control then verifies that every article meets the defined specifications before leaving the tannery.

The final result

The leather is ready to fulfil its purpose

From fiber preparation to final inspection, every stage contributes properties that remain in the material. The result is stable, durable leather designed to meet the demands of premium leather goods and fashion.

01 — Finished leather

The properties that distinguish premium leather

Finishing completes the leather’s performance profile and determines how it will respond to use, abrasion and the passage of time. At this stage, the properties that ensure the material performs in its final application are developed and verified.

A

Durability

Resistance in use

The finish protects the leather surface against abrasion, light and moisture, helping preserve its performance and appearance throughout the article’s useful life.

B

COLOR FASTNESS

COLOR STABILITY

Dyes and fixing agents ensure high resistance to rubbing, light and perspiration, maintaining uniform color even with continued use.

C

FEEL

SOFTNESS AND CHARACTER

Finishing adjusts the way the leather feels—silkier, firmer, drier or more natural—according to the performance required by each application.

D

NATURAL APPEARANCE

GRAIN CONSISTENCY

The finish respects and enhances the leather’s natural grain, preserving the material’s authenticity while ensuring a consistent appearance across articles and batches.

02 — Types of finish

Aniline and semi-aniline

Our specialty is aniline and semi-aniline finishes, valued for preserving the leather’s natural character. We also develop other types of finish when required by a project’s technical performance or the customer’s brief.

01
Aniline finish

Maximum natural character

The grain as nature created it

Aniline finishing preserves the full natural expression of the hide. The grain, subtle variations and individual character of every piece remain visible. It is the finish most highly valued in luxury leather goods and fashion.

02
Semi-aniline finish

Natural character and GREATER PROTECTION

The balance between beauty and performance

Semi-aniline finishing keeps the natural grain visible while adding light surface protection to improve color uniformity and resistance in use. It is chosen when the appearance of natural leather must be combined with greater performance.

Color · CHROMATIC PRECISION

Color comes to life in the finish

The finishing formulation determines the depth, intensity and visual appearance of color on the leather. Every shade is adjusted for accurate reproduction between batches and to preserve each article’s color identity.

86

Every shade is checked by color and batch before leaving the tannery.

Every decision made during the process is reflected in the leather we deliver.
The final result

What we agree is what we deliver

From raw-material selection to final inspection, every stage of the process is focused on one objective: delivering leather that precisely meets the agreed specifications. At Curtidos Badia, quality is not open to interpretation; it is built into the product.
