At Curtidos Badia, our story has been bound to leather for more than 135 years. A journey built on craft, on handwork and on the ability to evolve over time.
A story built on leather
Curtidos Badia began by working leather for footwear. Around 30 years ago, the company took a new step and turned its activity towards leather goods and the luxury sector.
Markets have changed, products have evolved and so have our ways of working. But something has remained constant: the care, the knowledge and the love for every leather.
Because for us, working leather is also a way of creating.
One of the parts of our craft we enjoy most is precisely the chance to develop new articles: to experiment with textures, colours and finishes, to look for new possibilities and to adapt each creation to what the market and each moment ask for.
That combination of tradition and creativity is part of the way we understand leather.
When a story becomes a fragrance
So when Sara and Joaquim, of CARNER BARCELONA, suggested taking our legacy into a different territory —that of perfumery—, the connection was immediate.
That is how CUIRS was born.
A fragrance inspired by leather, but also by everything that is part of the memories tied to our craft.
The smell of leather.
The memory of the smoke that lingered in the old factories, when cigarettes were part of the everyday rhythm of those years.
The feeling of walking into a familiar space. The warmth of arriving somewhere that feels like home.
CUIRS manages to turn all those memories into a different experience: a story that, instead of being touched, can be felt through smell.
Tradition, memory and creation
For us, this collaboration means far more than the creation of a perfume.
It is a way of reinterpreting our own legacy and of showing that a tradition can find new ways of expressing itself.
Leather stops being only a material and becomes inspiration. The craft turns into an experience. And the memories of several generations find a new way of enduring.
CUIRS connects two seemingly different worlds —tanning and perfumery— joined by something we share: the value of materials, a sensitivity to detail and the importance of creating products with an identity of their own.
